The Disability/Visibility Photography Project

The Disability/Visibility project is an 8-week community arts project in partnership with Gallery44, culminating in a gallery show in July 2018. Youth 18-30 who identify with the experience of disability will work with Toronto photographer Steve Kean to explore the theme of Im|Balance, develop photography skills and learn about the technical elements of photography. Participants will explore disability, identity and community in various locations in the city. Participants will work in groups and individually alongside Steve. FREE

Intro to Universal Design

What is Design? What is Universal Design? This session will introduce participants to the world of design by using an everyday item - the chair. Participants will explore chair designs from around the world and discuss form and function while exploring design concerns including materials, ergonomics, accessibility and scale. Participants will learn to think like designers as they work. Please note this is an introductory workshop, addressing universal design through basic principles. It will be best experienced by those 18 and under. Families welcome!
